“Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you,”unlessone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, “unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3-5)

When we, as believers, are baptized with water and the Holy Spirit, we become children of God and are “born again”. Some Christian groups believe in baptizing infants and young children, while others believe it is best to wait until adulthood, or at least until people can decide for themselves. No matter what age we are, we are truly born again when we are baptized and become part of God’s kingdom and family, inheriting God’s grace and mercy through Jesus Christ in this life and the next. Eternal in heaven is our guaranteed reward.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for making us your children through baptism. Help us remember that we are part of your kingdom and family and live accordingly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
